Cornhill to Turn Green!

Ipswich Central - Cornhill to Turn Green!

CORNHILL TO GO GREEN FOR AUGUST?

SURELY not!

Ipswich’s Cornhill to be laid with grass to create the ultimate picnic zone for families?

It’s true.

We sincerely hope Paul Clement, Executive Director of Ipswich Central, won’t be having to explain himself to Ipswich Town players if they return to find a patch of green grass missing after their break – but yes, Ipswich’s town centre is to be blanketed in turf!

The exciting concept has been devised by Suffolk creative agencies Lexia Media and RB Media and will see Ipswich Central lead a three-week summer holiday schedule of entertainment and activity on the Cornhill.

Every Wednesday, from August 11th, visitors to the town centre can expect to be WOWed by a special programme which includes circus-training, animated robotics, music, dance, an outdoor cinema screen – and a beautiful grassed picnic zone.

The three week campaign – badged WOW (What’s On Wednesday?) – has been devised to encourage families and shoppers to enjoy the many fantastic retail outlets, eateries, and outdoor spaces there are within Ipswich town centre.

Each of the three Wednesdays will see activities commence from mid-morning, and finishing by 6pm.

Paul Clement said of the initiative: “We’re so excited to be launching WOW (What’s On Wednesday?).

“This is something completely different for Ipswich and will really get a lot of people talking.

“The idea of having the Cornhill pathed in grass during three days of the summer holidays is something so unique and exciting that we hope it will encourage lots of families to come along and join in the seasonal spirit.”

He added: “Not only will we have this great grassed picnic area, but we’ve got lots of eating establishments and retailers adding their weight to the summer campaign by offering special deals through our Ipswich Central Plus Scheme, only available on these Wednesdays.

“It makes for a great package for families and a real reason to visit the town regularly throughout August.”
