Cambridge-based creators of a ground-breaking fertility device, DuoFertility, just scooped the QPrize™ European innovation competition in wireless technology for their DuoFertility system, which wirelessly monitors a woman's health and fertility 20,000 times every day. The recognition is part of the international QPrize venture investment competition, organised by Qualcomm – one of the world’s leading wireless technology companies.
At the European round of the competition, hosted on 14th January in London, DuoFertility was awarded the European title and will receive €100K in convertible note funding from Qualcomm. Representatives from DuoFertility will also be flown to California to take their place in the Grand Finals competition, being hosted at the Demo Conference (a showcase for emerging technologies), in Palm Desert at the end of February.
Dr Shamus Husheer, inventor of DuoFertility, says, ‘We’re absolutely delighted to be nominated winners of the European round of this competition and look forward to pitching ourselves against some of the world’s leading entrepreneurs all keen to bring their innovative products to market. Our published data showing that DuoFertility can be as effective as IVF for many couples at a fraction of the cost and with no drugs or surgery provided a compelling proposition, and the use of wireless technology to make this happen clearly excited the judging panel. For the next month we will be fine tuning our presentation, but feel completely confident in our technology and the fact our customers are saying how DuoFertility has revolutionised how they feel about the potential of conceiving.’
